Katie & Polly as Captains
This past week we played against the Vienna Lighting team and Polly and I were captains. I think we did great and we all tried our very best! Anyway the game was tied 0 to 0 although we almost had 5 goals in the first half, and a couple more in the second half. And thanks to our goalies Kylie and Cate we were saved with a tie. I really love being captain, it is so much fun! And congratulations to our next 2 captains Megan K. and Janna. Thanks for a great game team, you all did great!!

Loudoun Soccer 95 G White vs Epic Hammers
On Sunday September 9th Loudoun Soccer 95 G White (Loudoun Magic) played the Epic Hammers. We played a great game even though we did not win. The score was 2-0 Epic. We played at Sherando park in Stephen City VA. Megan K. and I were goalkeepers. Mairin and I were captains. After the game, we decided that Megan K. should be one of our next captains because she played so hard and had good footskills.

New Season – New Name
With a new season comes a new name for the Loudoun Magic – now the Loudoun Soccer 95G White. The team’s new name is part of Loudoun Soccer’s effort to better unite all the club’s teams under one umbrella. We wish our sister Red, Black, and Silver teams best of luck with their upcoming seasons.
White started their preseason with a solid 2-1 showing at the Dulles National Preseason Tournament in Herndon. The girls defeated the Sterling Tigers and Great Falls Courage before losing to the eventual tournament champion BRYC Axiom. Several of the girls had excellent tournaments. Goalkeepers Cate Coughter and Kylie Fleming finished the tournament unscored upon. Cate and newcomer Katie Alexander had the first goals as members of our team. Carly Melkus joined us as a guest player and did a nice job as a keeper and defender.
It would’ve been nice to get into the finals, but the girls played hard, and did well for their first games together. We got a good idea of what we need to work on, and we’re ready to work hard to have a great ODSL season.

Loudoun Soccer Tryout Information
Loudoun Soccer will be holding open tryouts for rising U12 Girls on May 31, June, 2, and June 3. Tryouts run from 6pm to 8pm and players are encouraged to attend all three tryout sessions.
The current field schedule is:
U12 Girls May 31 Legacy Large
(born 8/1/95 – 7/31/96) June 2 Evergreen Mills
June 3 Simpson #2
Please check the Loudoun Soccer website (http://www.loudounsoccer.com/LSC/index_E.html) throughout the week as the schedule is subject to change. A little food for thought:
- We anticipate a fairly large group for tryouts, so arrive at the field no later than 5:45 to register. The players will be given numbered pinnies, which they’ll be expected to return at the end of each session.
- Loudoun Soccer tryouts are open to anyone in the age group. To help the coaches remain as objective as possible, players are not to wear articles of clothing that identify them with a current travel team. No uniform jerseys, shorts, socks, practice jerseys, or warmups. Also players should not bring their “travel bags” – they should just bring a ball and water.
- The more we see the players, but better we can do at placing them appropriately, so please attend all three tryouts. If a player is injured or there’s some kind of vacation conflict, please let one of the coaches or volunteers know during the sign-in process.
- All current players are required to attend tryouts, as all rosters spots on each team are open for competition. Players on current teams may be placed on a higher or lower team based on their ability and performance at tryouts.
- We anticipate the addition of a D team to the age group, coached by Peter Walther. The addition of a 4th team is contingent upon the number of suitable players we see trying out.
- Due to Loudoun Soccer policy, we are unable to make player notifications until immediately after our last ODSL game, which is currently scheduled for June 10. (This policy is new since last year.) If this causes a hardship for someone based on vacation plans, etc. please contact your coach to make other arrangements.
Good luck!
Coach Ed & Jeff
